Overview
Buttock contouring is not a single procedure: lack of volume, sagging skin and fat distribution around the waist require different approaches. A buttock lift that removes skin is not the same as fat transfer or implants that add volume. The person's body structure, available fat tissue and sitting habits affect the plan. Fat embolism in fat transfer to the buttocks, known as BBL, can be fatal; This risk should not be treated on the same level as ordinary bruising or swelling. A competent surgeon, a suitable operating environment, an up-to-date safety approach, and explanation of alternatives are essential parts of the decision discussion. No technique guarantees risk-free results.
What is evaluated?
- It is determined whether volume deficiency or excess skin is dominant.
- If fat transfer is considered, existing fat tissue and general surgical suitability are evaluated.
- Discussion of the desired size, willingness to accept scars and sitting requirements.
Approach and options
- If sagging is predominant, a buttock lift to remove excess skin, may be considered.
- Fat transfer or implant options for volume are compared with their own serious risks.
- Limited contour correction may be considered for fat distribution around the waist and hips.
Recovery and follow-up
Recommendations for sitting, lying and avoiding pressure vary depending on the method used. Swelling and asymmetry may not reflect the final result in the early period; Some of the volume may be lost during fat transfer. The control and action plan must be followed. In case of sudden shortness of breath, chest pain or fainting, immediate help is required.
Risks and limits
- Fat embolism, which can be life-threatening during fat transfer
- Infection, bleeding, or wound opening
- Fat necrosis, volume loss and asymmetry
- Implant-related relocation or removal requirement
The headings here do not cover all risks. Possible benefits, alternatives and personal risks should be discussed in detail during the examination.
You can ask in the consultation
- Is my goal to add volume or reduce sagging skin?
- What current measures are implemented to reduce the risk of fat embolism?
- How will my sitting and return-to-work needs affect the choice of technique?
