Overview

Thread suspension aims to support tissue with special threads in selected face and neck areas. Since there is no surgery to remove excess skin, the change that can be achieved in significant sagging is limited. Skin thickness, tissue weight, existing asymmetry and previous applications have an impact on the result. The properties of the material used and the expected duration of action should be explained in advance; A permanent stretching effect should not be assumed. Just because there are no large incisions during the procedure does not mean that there will be no pain, bruising or irregularity afterwards. The expectation is based on providing reasonable support for a specific area of the face; If necessary, different methods are compared.

What is evaluated?

  • The degree of laxity, skin thickness and weight of facial tissues are examined.
  • Previous fillers, threads or facial surgeries are questioned.
  • Discussion of the expected amount of lift and the limitations of its temporary effect.

Approach and options

  • In early laxity, limited support with appropriate absorbable threads can be evaluated.
  • If volume or skin texture problems are dominant, different treatments may be considered.
  • For significant excess skin, face or neck lift surgery can be compared.

Recovery and follow-up

A pulling sensation, bruising, swelling, and discomfort while chewing may occur. Personal recommendations are given for applying pressure to the face, massage and intense movement. A thread becoming exposed or increasing pain requires medical review. The initial appearance may be affected by edema; The outcome and the need for additional intervention are evaluated at follow-up.

Risks and limits

  • Threads becoming visible, palpable or exposed
  • Asymmetry and irregularity on the skin surface
  • Infection and ongoing pain
  • Temporary mouth opening difficulty or poor results

The headings here do not cover all risks. Possible benefits, alternatives and personal risks should be discussed in detail during the examination.

You can ask in the consultation

  • How much improvement in my skin laxity is realistic?
  • What are the characteristics of the threads being used, and how long is their effect expected to last?
  • What would be done if a thread becomes visible or painful?
